In recent years attention has been directed to nutritional deficiencies in the geriatric patients. In these persons a nutritional defect may be found even in the presence of an adequate diet. This nutritive loss may be due to gastrointestinal disturbances, impaired circulation or an endocrine imbalance. For this reason Gericid capsules are prepared in a well balanced formula of nutritionally adequate combination of all needed vitamins and minerals.
The ingredients of Gericid capsules possess a high biological value that exert essential functions in regulating all metabolic processes in the body. Gericid capsules provide the body with the essential vitamins and minerals to compensate all deficiency conditions resulting from mal-nutrition or over-exertion. It effectively promotes the body defense mechanism against various pathological conditions as in acute and chronic diseases, prolonged antibiotic treatment, chronic debilitating diseases and chronic alcoholism .
Indications & usage :
Gericid is mainly indicated in all deficiency states occurring in connection with :
Senility, pregnancy, lactation, infancy and puberty.
Over-exertion and exhaustion.
Diabetes, peptic ulcer patients, arteriosclerosis and obese subjects.
Hepatic disorders especially fatty infiltration.
All types of deficiency anemias including :
Iron deficiency anemia.
All conditions of avitaminosis such as :
Beri – beri, pellagra , stomatitis , glossitis , skin lesions,
conjunctivitis, corneal lesions and polyneuritis.
Hypersensitivity to any of its components .
Excessive dosage of vitamin A, D and nicotinamide may lead to hypervitaminosis . Symptoms usually clear on withdrawal of vitamins .
Drug interactions :
- Absorption of vitamin A from the G.I.T may be reduced by the presence of
neomycin , colestyramine or liquid paraffin .
There is an increased risk of hypervitaminosis A if vitamin A is given with
synthetic retinoids .
Pyridoxine reduces the effects of levodopa and altretamine
There is an increased risk of hypercalcaemia if vitamin D is given with thiazide
diuretics and calcium .
Warnings and precautions :
As well all vitamins preparations , patients should be cautioned against excessive dosage .
Dosage and administration:
1 capsule daily, or as directed by physician.
Box of 30 capsules.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 oc ,and R.H below 70 % .
