Migracid
Syrup
Analgesic, antipyretic and antiemetic

Composition :
Each 5ml contains
Paracetamol 100 mg
Metoclopramide HCl 2 mg

Properties :
Migracid syrup is a combination of two effective therapeutic agents, which act synergetically.
Paracetamol is a non -salicylate analgesic and antipyretic agent which is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from gastro -intestinal tract. It produces quick effect and has the advantage of being less toxic and preferable to salicylates in paediatric therapy.
Metoclopramide has antiemetic action that is due partly to its local action on gastro - intestinal tract and partly to direct action on central nervous system.

Indications & usage:
- Fever.
- Treatment of pain such as headache, toothache, neuralgia and myalgia.
- Nausea and vomiting.

Contra-indication :
- Do not use in situations where stimulation of gastro -intestinal motility might
be dangerous .
- Contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma .
- Sensitivity or intolerance to its components .
- Do not use in epileptic patients .

Side effects :
- Extra pyramidal symptoms occur in approximately 0.2% -1% .
- Depression may occur

Drug interactions :
Migracid has been suggested that it should not be given to patients
receiving MAOIs .
The effect of metoclopromide on gastrointestinal motility is antagonized by
anticholinergic drugs and narcotic analgesic .
Caution should be observed when using metoclopramide in patients taking other drugs that can also cause extrapyramidal reactions , such as the phenothiazines .
Metoclopramide may diminishe absorption of digoxin from stomach and so decreases the therapeutic effect of digoxin .
Metoclopramide may increases prolactin blood concentrations and therefore interferes with drugs which have a hypoprolactinaemic effect such as bromocriptine .
Concurrent use of paracetamol with anticoagulant , anti-inflammatory
drugs and CNS stimulants are not recommended .

Warnings & precautions :
For children the maximum dose of metoclopramide is 0.5mg /kg daily since
the higher doses may lead to extra-pyramidal effects.
Do not use in hepatic and renal impairment.

Dosage & administration:
Under 1year : ½ teaspoonful three times daily .
1-5 years : ½ -1 teaspoonful three times daily .
6-12 years : 1-2 teaspoonfuls three times daily .
The total daily dosage of metoclopramide especially in children and young adults should not exceed 500 micrograms per kilogram body weight.

Packing :
Carton box containing bottle of 120 ml .

Storage :
Store at a temperature below 30 oc , away from light .
